Great Canadian Entertainment (GCE) announced the upcoming grand opening for the company’s new Ontario entertainment venue last week. Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto’s new facility will officially be unveiled with some major-name concerts on May 3-4.

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are on tap to celebrate the entertainment destination’s opening. Company officials are pleased to see the latest portion of the entire Ontario casino resort getting closer to opening.

“We are thrilled to welcome Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton to The Theatre for Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto’s grand opening weekend,” GCE Chief Marketing Officer Gavin Whiteley said. “This pivotal occasion marks the beginning of a new chapter in live entertainment in Toronto as we curate a diverse array of world-class performances, and entertainment experiences for our guests.”

Details on the Casino & Grand Opening

Great Canadian Toronto opened in June and is Canada’s newest and largest casino resort. The $1 billion project features 328,000 square feet of gaming space, a 400-room hotel, an indoor pool, a wellness and fitness area, multiple restaurants, and event and meeting space.

“The Theatre” has a capacity for 5,000 and becomes the latest addition to the property. The venue is associated with Live Nation, the international entertainment company and ticketing agency, and will host live music, comedy, and special events.

Stefani and Shelton become the first acts to take the stage. Stefani, a three-time Grammy Award winner who has achieved global success as a songwriter, performer, and frontwoman of No Doubt, will perform on May 3. She’s sold more than 60 million units worldwide, including her four-times platinum debut solo album “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.”

Five-time Country Music Association male vocalist of the year Blake Shelton hits the stage the following day. The entertainment power couple have earned even more fame in recent years as two of the judges and stars of NBC’s singing competition “The Voice.”

“In a weekend celebration fit for the grandeur of Canada’s newest and largest casino resort, two of the most captivating and influential artists of our time will deliver unforgettable performances in the brand new, 5,000-person The Theatre, marking the beginning of an era that blends world-class live entertainment with the excitement of Toronto’s premier casino destination,” the company noted in announcing the performances.

Great Canadian Rewards members gain exclusive early access to tickets for both shows beginning Dec. 12. Live Nation and Ticketmaster customers have access to a presale beginning Dec. 14. Tickets become available to the general public Dec. 15.

GCE is promising even more acts in the coming months including “a lineup of world-class talent, elevating the venue’s status as a premier destination for live events.”
